Back & Tail Panels

Cab back panels and rear tail panels — the pressings that close the body below and around the rear glass or tailgate opening. Coverage for the Land Cruiser FJ45 (upper, lower and complete back panel assemblies), Land Rover Defender rear panels and Datsun 240Z taillight surround panels.

The seam that fails

Back panels rust where they meet the floor: the bottom flange sits in everything the floor collects, and on pickups the cab back also takes load rub from inside the bed. The 240Z's taillight panel corrodes around the light apertures where seals hardened decades ago.

Fitting

Fit with the tailgate or rear door present so the opening is gapped against something real; drill original spot welds, clamp, verify the aperture, plug-weld and seal the floor joint on both faces.

Upper, lower or complete assembly?

If rust stops below the window line, the lower panel is enough; scale in the window flange means the assembly. Both are listed for the FJ45.
