Firewalls & Cowls

Firewall sections, bulkhead panels, cowls, torpedo panels and dash panels for the Toyota Land Cruiser 40-Series and Land Rover Defender. This is the structural heart of the front body: it carries the windscreen base, pedal box, steering column and wiring pass-throughs, and it rusts from the inside where the cowl plenum drains leaves and water onto the footwells.

Why bulkheads matter

On a Defender, the steel bulkhead is the single most important structural body component — MOT/roadworthy inspections fail trucks on bulkhead corrosion, and complete genuine bulkheads are scarce and expensive. On the 40-Series, footwell and torpedo-side rust destroys the panel alignment the whole front clip references. Correct-profile repair sections let you replace what's rotten without losing the datum points that locate everything.

Installation

Measure and photograph everything before cutting — pedal, column and master-cylinder mounts reference this panel. Fit with the body braced, confirm door and windscreen apertures haven't moved, plug-weld at factory seams, and seal the plenum drainage paths that caused the rust.

Are firewall panels drive-side specific?

Yes — LHD and RHD pressings differ. Every listing states its drive configuration.

Can a home builder replace a firewall section?

An experienced welder can; a first structural project this should not be.
