Patch Panels

Part-panel repair sections pressed to factory profile — door patch sets, corner patches and sill sections for the Toyota Land Cruiser 40-Series and early Bronco. When rust is local, a patch panel replaces exactly the dead metal and nothing more.

Patch or full panel?

The rule of thumb: if corrosion is confined to the lower 150 mm of a panel or one corner, patch it; if it crosses a swage line or shows in more than one area, the full pressing is faster and straighter. Patches shine on doors (bottom-skin rot with a sound frame) and rear corners.

Doing it right

Butt-weld, never lap: scribe around the patch, cut the rust out with a clean margin, tack in sequence around the joint and fill slowly between tacks. Dress, treat the rear face, skim. A butt-welded patch is invisible and permanent; a lapped, seam-sealed shortcut bubbles within two winters.

Are patch panels pre-shaped?

Yes — pressed to the original contour and swage lines, not flat stock.
